ABOUT MOVA

MOVA was born out of years spent chasing waves and hitting walls. Matt, a lifelong surfer and engineer from South Africa, has been in the water since he could walk. The ocean is basically his second home. Over the years, he’s built and shaped hundreds of boards, constantly fine-tuning performance to match his lifestyle, one built around movement, travel, and the next perfect swell.

But getting boards from one place to another? Always a struggle. Airlines were unpredictable. Boards arrived cracked, delayed, or not at all. On a trip to Senegal, after double-checking the rules, he still had to leave his board behind. Enough was enough.

Drawing on his experience with advanced composite materials, Matt set out to design a better board one that breaks down into three pieces, fits in a suitcase, and performs like a traditional shortboard. Something built for the journey, not just the destination.

While studying Entrepreneurship and Innovation in Sweden, Matt met Natalia. With a background in business, operations, and sustainability, she saw the potential to take the concept from garage-built prototype to global product. Together, they combined deep technical know-how with strategic thinking and a shared passion for adventure.

MOVA is for surfers who live to move. Who want to travel light, surf anywhere, and skip the airport stress. No gimmicks. No compromises. Just freedom, redefined.

Built from experience.
Made for movement.

We’re here to celebrate that spirit, raw, real, and endlessly diverse.
